Kathryn Emerson, age 93, of Sterling Heights, Michigan passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2020. Kathryn is the loving mother of William Emerson (Carole), Michael Emerson (Susan), Mary Knowles (Gary); and Susanne Shelly (Thomas); Proud grandmother of 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 60 years, James Oliver Emerson.
Kathryn was born May 2, 1927, in Minden City, Michigan, to parents Walter and Frances DeRosia. She moved to Detroit, Michigan with her husband Jim and together they started and raised a family in Saint Clair Shores and Warren and eventually moved to Clinton Township. Kathryn enjoyed the life they built; they were married just shy of 60 years. They loved to spend their winters in Florida, and enjoyed spending time with the GM retirees PERC Club. Her faith was important to her and was a devout Catholic all her life.
A visitation for Kathryn will be held Wednesday, October 7, 2020 from 4 - 7 PM at Resurrection Funeral Home, 40800 Hayes Road, Clinton Township, MI 48038. An in state will follow Thursday, October 8, 2020 at 9:30 AM, until time of funeral mass at 10 AM at St. Jane Frances De Chantal Catholic Church, 38750 Ryan Road, Sterling Heights, MI 48310. Interment at White Chapel Memorial Park Cemetery in Troy, Michigan. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Heart to Heart Hospice (link included below).
