It is with great sadness the family of Kenneth Weinert announces his passing on Monday, March 16, 2020 at the age of 78. Ken was a devoted husband of 50 years to the love of his life Cynthia (nee Nowak). Cherished father of Julie (James), Tracy, and Kristy (Joseph). His favorite title was Grandpa to Delaney, Abigail, Jolena, Rachel, Lincoln and Dekker. Further survived by his sister Janice, sister-in-law Diane (Carl) Ross, brother-in-law Fred (Kathy) Young and many more nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Marion, brothers James and Robert and sister Margaret.
Born January 25, 1942 in Detroit to his parents Joseph and Marion, Ken was the oldest of five children. He graduated from Osborn High School, married his love Cynthia and settled in Fraser, Michigan. He began to work for Aramark vending services and was faithfully employed there for 33 years until his retirement in 1995. Upon retirement, Ken took up a second career as a doorman for the Townsend Hotel in Birmingham, Michigan for 18 years until his final retirement in 2019.
His greatest achievement in life was his family and friends. Spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren always came first. Through 50 years of marriage, he and Cindy never missed their weekly date night and shared an epic love story. When it came to events like holiday gatherings, birthday parties or dinner with friends, Ken was always the one at the center of the celebration telling stories, laughing and making sure everyone had a great time.
His favorite past time was taking care of his cars- he bought and sold many throughout the years, but his current favorites were his Charger SRT8 and Challenger Hellcat because why have one fun sports car when you can have two! He also loved parades and was always cheering and laughing the loudest while helping the grandkids scoop up all the candy. And movie quotes? He could recite them all from movies like Airplane and Vacation.
Ken was the person we all wanted to be when we grew up. He was smart, kind, compassionate and had a zest for life. He had an incredible ability to connect with every single person he encountered.
A celebration of life will be planned for a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the City of Fraser Public Safety Department at 33000 Garfield, Road, Fraser, Michigan 48026. This team has supported our family throughout the years including Ken’s final moments on earth and we will be forever grateful for their compassion and care.
...And think of him as living
in the hearts of those he touched…
for nothing loved is ever lost
and he was loved so much.
