The matriarch of the Eland clan is now with our Father in Heaven—just 10 days after her 94th birthday! LaVerne (Agnes) Eland was truly an incredible force in our family. She kept us in line when we needed it, but more importantly, she kept us together. She was the heart and memory of that branch of the Eland/Likavec family tree, always reminding us in her wisdom where we came from and what really mattered.
Fiercely independent, and unwavering in her faith, she lived her life with strength, love, and devotion to God. She was quick to tell you what she thought, but just as quick to wrap you up in love. Her stories, her laughter, and her steady presence will be deeply missed.
We are grateful for the legacy she left behind. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Paul and Mary Likavec and her devoted husband of 54 years, Arthur Eland. She will be missed by her 5 children Sharon (Ron) Valente, Lynne Rodriguez, Bob (Dana) Eland, Michael Eland, and Karyn (Rob) Borsuk; her 8 grandchildren Mathew Valente, Ciara Polikretis, Garrett Eland, Alexis Eland-Rodriguez, Phillip Borsuk, Farra Evans, Michael Lopez and Austin Borsuk; and 15 great grandchildren! She had many cousins, nieces and nephews as well, and she was called mom by many. Laverne touched more lives than we could ever count! Always with a smile!
Even though she is no longer with us here on earth her spirit will remain woven into the fabric of our family forever.
A visitation for Agnes will be held Thursday, August 28, 2025 from 2 - 8 PM, with a rosary at 7 PM at Resurrection Funeral Home, 40800 Hayes Road, Clinton Township, MI 48038. An instate gathering will begin Friday, August 29, 2025 at 10:30 AM until time of funeral mass at 11 AM at St. Matthias Catholic Church, 12311 19 Mile Road, Sterling Heights, MI 48313. A chapel committal service will follow at 12:45 PM at St. Mary Cemetery, 36105 24 Mile Rd, at Base Street, New Baltimore, MI 48047.
