Louis served as a Corporal in the United States Army during World War II. He was stationed in Tokyo, Japan with the B Company of the 720th Military Police Battalion, and earned the WWII Victory Metal. Louis was beyond proud of his family, and loved them more than words could express.
Louis is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Jean, they were married on May 17, 1952. Other survivors include their children, Larry (Jan) Knapp, Laura (Tom) Montgomery, Louie (Debra) Knapp, Patty (Don) DeCorte, Theresa (Jim) Honeycutt, Jeanne (Mike) Westermann; 11 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren. Louis was preceded in death by his parents, his step-mother, Catherine Knapp; and siblings, Norbert Knapp and Dolores Olmstead.
Visitation for Louis will be Thursday, March 15, from 2-8pm at Kaul Funeral Home, 35201 Garfield Road, Clinton Township, MI 48035. In-State will be Friday March 16, from 9:30 - 10:00am with a 10:00 Mass at St Jane Frances De Chantal, 38750 Ryan Rd, Sterling Heights, MI 48310. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton Township.
