Missy Steele was welcomed home to Heaven on March 28, 2026, at the age of 42. While she leaves behind mourning family and friends who loved her, no doubt she was greeted by Angels with a glorious “Hi Missy!,” that was met with her unmistakable smile in return.
Missy loved Disney movies, all Disney movies – The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, Frozen, Lilo and Stitch, and all the music that they included. She played the music over and over; and she always sang along … loudly.
But her musical taste was eclectic: Disney tunes, certainly, but also country and rock & roll. Her favorite music, however, was anything performed by her cousin Mark Heckert and the band he’s a part of – Intrigue. Missy was never shy about her love of music, or her Intrigue fandom. She knew all the dance moves of the singers in the band and performed right along with them at every show she attended.
Missy’s love of movies and music was equaled by her appreciation of good food – Lebanese, Chinese, Italian, even something as simple as a burger and onion rings. Her favorite, by far, was pizza – but only Jet’s Pizza; no disrespect to the little emperor or anyone’s buddy who makes pizza.
But more than anything in life, Missy loved people. Her family, her friends, anyone she knew. A wave, or a “Hi, Missy!” made her happy. And that happiness was a special gift she shared with everyone she met. A smile from Missy came from her whole person, as if from one soul to another. And the happiness she shared was pure and refreshingly simple. It was not about getting something or achieving something, it was a heart-felt happiness about just being together, and it made no difference if she hadn’t seen you in a week or a year.
Missy’s legacy is to have her family and friends continue to share that happiness between them, and with everyone they meet.
Missy leaves behind a large and loving family, including her mother, Carolyn Steele; her siblings, Michael Kiernicki, Paul Kiernicki, Lisa White, and Andrea Steele; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
