Norma Vivio, age 83, of Clinton Township, was born November 27, 1932 in Detroit. She was the beloved daughter of John and Theresa Vivio, sister to Dolores Amato and Vivian Stolaruk. Norma was a loving Aunt and is survived by three nieces; Nancy Amato of Canton, Diane Amato of Warren, Ann (Stolaruk)(James) Sullivan formerly of Rochester Hills, with Nephews John Amato of South Lyon and Marc (Marie) Stolaruk of Oakland Township. Norma was Great Aunt to Nicholas Stolaruk of Ferndale, Melissa (Stolaruk) Crooks of St. Louis, Mo., and Andrew Stolaruk at MSU. Norma also enjoyed being Great-Grand Aunt to Dean & Margo Crooks. Norma shared a special friendship with Dolly Lang of St. Clair Shores.
Norma’s ongoing battle with cancer ended on February 20, 2016, but she will always be remembered for her lively personality filled with her fun, supportive nature, combined with her sharp wit and unconventional rebellious attitude towards life. Her trademark included remembering friends and family by taking great care and thought in sending unusual humorous greeting cards for special occasions. Well before it was either fashionable or commonly acceptable Norma was an outspoken, self- sufficient, independent woman, unafraid to meet life’s challenges. She was a long time resident and former motel owner of the Nor-Gate Motel of Indian River, Michigan.
Viewing will be Tuesday from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm, ending with a Celebration of Life service 7:00 pm at Resurrection Funeral Home, 40800 Hayes Road, Clinton Township, MI 48038.
