Richard Brooks McLaughlin

Richard “Dick” Brooks McLaughlin, of Sterling Heights, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Monday, November 13, 2017, at the age of 86. Beloved husband of Janith for 61 years; adored father of Richard, Jr. (Sheryl) McLaughlin, Gerald (TinaJo) McLaughlin, and Douglas (Laurie) McLaughlin; proud grandpa of Lindsay, Janelle, Lauren, Brooks, Rachel, Ryan, Kyle, and Deena; dear brother of Robert (Helen) McLaughlin, the late Donald McLaughlin, the late William McLaughlin, and the late Joann McLaughlin. Dick is survived by his favorite four-legged companion, Bently, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Dick was born on October 16, 1931 in Everson, Pennsylvania, to the late Edgar and Ruth McLaughlin. He proudly served his country with the Air Force during the Korean War. Dick enjoyed fishing, camping, and golf. He was strong in his Christian faith: reading the Bible daily, and being active at church. He proudly shared his faith with his family and grandchildren. His proudest moments were with his grandchildren, watching them play sports and spoiling them.

The family will greet friends on Thursday, November 16, 2017 from 3:00pm until 8:00pm at Kaul Funeral Home, 35201 Garfield Rd., Clinton Twp. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Friday, November 17, 2017 at Bethany Baptist Church, 19700 15 Mile Rd., Clinton Twp. Visitation at church from 10:30am until time of service. Military Honors to follow service. Interment at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, MI.
