

Rita A. Polk, age 87, passed away April 30, 2011 in Grosse Pointe. She was born August 31, 1923 in Detroit. She worked during WWII as a riveter. A devoted mother, who often referred to herself as a domestic engineer. Careers outside of the home included managing several prominent restaurants. Devoted to prayer, loved music, dancing, gardening, and an avid seamstress. Graduated from Sweetest Heart of Mary Catholic School with many accomplishments and honors. She is survived by her children Timothy (Susan), Arlene Edmonds, Audrey, and Bridget; grandchildren Nathan (Sandra), Natalie (Stephen), and Whitney; great grandchildren Kacey, Joshua, and Zachary; survived by many loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Chester and her daughter, Celeste. A memorial mass will be celebrated on Saturday, May 21, 2011 at 10:00AM at St. Ronald’s Catholic Church ,17701 15 Mile, Clinton Twp., Mi. Visitation will be at the church Saturday 9:00AM to 9:30 AM with a Rosary at 9:30AM. A Celebration of Life Memorial service will follow at the American Polish Cultural Center 2975 E. Maple, Troy, MI, from Noon to 4:00PM. Memorials to the Hospice of Michigan or the Monastery of the Blessed Sacrament in Farmington Hills, MI. would be appreciated.
