Dear Joann, We will miss Tom as a friend and neighbor. It was nice to read about all the young people Tom helped along their way in his counseling over many years.  The people he touched represent a true legacy through their memories.  Our sympathies to you and the rest of the family through this difficult time.

So sorry to hear about Tom he always made me laugh w/ different stories at lunch time, there was one about feeding fish while scuba diving in Mexico with his wife who had tucked away the bread in a dangerous place...and getting rid of some old wine bottles that blew up...I will always remember him with a giggle as he had great sense of humor!

Mr. Neil was my guidance counselor at Grosse Pointe North.  He was instrumental in setting me on a clear path to success in high school.  I was truly touched by Mr. Neil's warm personality, compassionate heart and helpful spirit!  I am truly blessed to have had the privilege of knowing him.

Mr. Neil was a wonderful counselor at Grosse Pointe North; he left a lasting imprint on so many students' lives.  He always wore a warm smile and was eager to listen to his students and offer guidance.  Praying for his family and friends during this difficult time.

Quite a few tears have flowed since hearing of Tom's passing.

My "fondest and best buddy" during our "Team Teaching" and 
"shared" Science days in the GPPS hopefully have inspired  students 
to go forward into this field of endeavor.

Bless him ! He was the best at GPN.. He was my counselor and he rocked ! Rip !

Mr. Neil  was my science teacher, in 1974. He was one of those unforgettable teachers who truly made a difference in people's lives. He sparked my life long interest and career in science. He was also one of the funniest teachers I have ever had. I still remember his pranks. 

Deepest sympathy for his passing. He will always be remembered fondly and with great respect.

My condolences to Mr. Neil's family. He took an interest in all of the students with whom he worked and will be missed by many.

Tom Neil was a wonderful man.  I worked with him at Grosse Pointe North.  He was the BEST guidance counselor and mentor.  He went above and beyond for his kids.  I remember his laughter at some of the kids antics.  He truly cared about the students there.

He was my Jessica's guidance counselor and friend.  As she bravely battled cancer in her Senior year of high school, he was there for her at every turn.  Our family will be eternally grateful his kind and wonderful counsel to her.

I am so sad to hear of this news....please know how much Tom and his family are in our thoughts and prayers.

My thoughts are with the Neil family at this time. Mr. Neil was my HS counselor at GP North and I was always grateful for his guidance through those formative years. His empathy towards me being the child of a HS staff member has always stuck with me. When I needed a space to "get away" he provided that for me, always with a smile and good conversation. Thank you Mr. Neil for being a positive influence in my life and the lives of so many.

My Dear Friend, I am so very sorry for you and the family at the loss of Tom. It seems as though health challenges have plagued your family for so many years now, and Tom was always there with you. Tom Neil gave guidance when it was dark he was a kind man with a lovely family.  My prayers are with you.

Mr. Neil was a great man. He was smart and a leader. I will miss him greatly. He was a positive influence in my life since 3 years old. With great love Michael.

Mr. Neil was truly the best guidance counselor in High School. Everyone wanted him as their mentor. I was privileged enough to have known him. He got me through many difficult times in high school and was one of 2 people that made me sad to leave high school. He had a wonderful caring and funny soul.  My heartfelt condolences to his children, grandchildren, wife and family who are mourning his loss. Prayers to all of you during this difficult time. God Bless.

I am speechless, I'm so saddened by this tragity.  I have known Uncle Tom since a baby.  His wife Joanne is my godmother.  My dad and Tom were great friends and met at gp north since my dad was a history teacher there until he passed away in 1984.  I really don't know what to say except I'm very saddened by this and pray for Joanne , Jennifer, and Tommy.  I pray you find a way to grieve and get through this.  I love you all so much.  I wish I would have had more time with him but I will always hold fond and loving memories of him .   Great memories as a child spending time with the family and kids, having Tom as my councilor at school and helping me thorough a lot of tough times throughout childhood.  May you rest in peace Uncle Tom and make sure you hook up with my dad up there.  Love you all dearly.
