My fondest memory of Bruce was him banging the counter area of the press box at Bulldog Stadium whenever something bad happened to the Fresno State football team. Bruce had long retired by then and no longer had to stay objective as he did for so many years as a Fresno Bee sports writer. Now, he could just enjoy the games. And he loved watching them. I also remember him making it out to Tempe, Ariz., to watch the Fresno State baseball team upset national power Arizona State en route to advancing to the College World Series and winning a national championship. Bruce had so much fun watching the Bulldogs defy the odds and win it all. R.I.P. Bruce. And thank you for always being so nice to me throughout the years.

Any time I heard the name or ran into the man named Bruce Farris, I thought there is a gentleman who wears the coat of humility better than anyone I know. Met Bruce & Barbara when they were members of Valley Bible Church and enjoyed a casual friendship for the last 30+ years. I always appreciated visiting with him at Fresno State Baseball games. It was fun when you could get him to tell stories of his career. I pray for God's best in the lives of his family.

A co-worker of my late husband, Bruce was always friendly and came from an era when there was integrity in journalism. The world is a little sadder without him.

I knew Bruce from playing golf in tournaments in the central valley. Always upbeat and a first class guy. He was excellent with his pen. The golf community lost someone special. RIP Bruce

In my dad's house, Bruce Farris was a legend!  Dad's business (until he was 96) was setting up pressrooms for sporting events; mostly PGA golf.  During my many visits with dad in his San Diego home, he would always mention the great sports writers he knew;  Jim Murray, Bruce Farris, Bud Furillo, Jack Murphy, Art Rosenbaum, Art Spander, Frank Deford, etc.  When I asked him who was the greatest....his answer was always the same....."Bruce Farris of the Fresno Bee!"
