August 13, 1941 – December 26, 2025
It is with deep sadness that the family of Carmen O. Ramirez, age 84, of Clovis, California announces her peaceful passing on Friday, December 26, 2025. Carmen Olivas Ramirez was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and woman of profound faith. Born on August 13, 1941, in Camargo, Chihuahua, Mexico, she was the daughter of the late Jose Carmen Olivas Muñoz and Maria Nikolasa Olivas Ureño Flores.
At the age of 23, Carmen married Armando Ramirez, her husband of 60 years. She left her family in Mexico in June of 1964, to start her life with Armando in California. Together they raised their five children in Clovis, CA. Carmen’s life was guided by her deep Catholic faith and traditional values. She and Armando instilled in their children the importance of practicing their faith, pursuing a good education, living an honorable life, and practicing good manners. She lived by the firm belief that “without respect, there is nothing.” Carmen was a devout Catholic who found great peace in watching daily mass, praying the rosary each night before going to bed, having religious candles lit, and always wore her rosary necklace and scapular. She lived her life as a testament to her faith and her principles.
As a mother, she was a pillar of love, strength, support, faith, and friendship. She always put her children first. Her love for her children gave her the strength and will to beat Cancer many times with grace and a positive attitude. She was a true warrior who demonstrated that with faith, the Trust in God’s plan, and determination anything is possible with God’s grace. She was an inspiration to many.
Affectionately known by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as “Ma”, “Abuelita”, “Grandma”, and “Mom Mom Mom”. She was the heart of her family. She was happiest when surrounded by loved ones, whether she was crocheting or watching television at
home, or traveling to the beach or the mountains. She always cherished her memories of traveling with family and her husband. They both enjoyed traveling together. Carmen mostly cherished her trips back to Mexico to visit her parents (before their passing), brothers, nephews, nieces, godchildren, and close friends.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Armando; her son, Angel Ramirez; and her siblings Salvador, Chava, Angel, and Marialuisa Olivas.
Carmen is survived by her four daughters: Carmen Gomes (Andy), Sylvia Ramirez, Laura Luna, and Elena Cotta (Brian). She leaves a lasting legacy through her seven grandchildren: Nikolas Gomes (Laurel), Monet Gomes Goethlich (Jamie), Danielle La France, Samantha La France (Stephen Planting), Andrew Cotta, Sophia Luna, and Santana Luna; and her two great-grandchildren, Elise and Irene Gomes.
