Christine Magaña was born on September 9, 1926 to Johann Lorenz Stӧhr and Justine Anna (Mϋller) Stӧhr in Nurnberg, Germany. She entered into rest on September 1, 2024; just 8 days shy of her 98th birthday.
Christine graduated from high school and was in training to be a seamstress when WWII interrupted her life. When the Americans occupied Germany, she met Joe Magaña a US Army PFC, fell in love and married on November 3, 1945.
As a war bride Christine traveled to the United States with their baby boy and set up residence in Fresno. Christine and Joe had 5 children together. They remained married for 70 years until Joe passed away in 2016. She was the youngest remaining child of 3 siblings.
Christine is survived by her sons, Johann Roy, of Clayton, CA, and Michael Joe of Fresno, CA; her daughters Ramona (Mendoza), Linda Chavez, Joanne (Jerome) all of Fresno, CA. Christine also leaves behind 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren to cherish her memory.
A Visitation for Christine will be held Tuesday, September 24, 2024 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Boice Funeral Home, 308 Pollasky Avenue, Clovis, California 93612.
A Funeral Mass will occur Wednesday, September 25, 2024 from 10:00 am at St. Paul Catholic Newman Center, 1572 East Barstow Avenue, Fresno, California 93710.
Following the Funeral Mass a Committal will take place at Clovis Cemetery, 305 North Villa Avenue, Clovis, California 93612.
Serving as pallbearers are RJ Magaña, David Magaña, David Jerome, Corey Ferry, Patrick Flint and Willoughby Flint.
