John grew up in Los Banos, California. After high school he joined the army and served in Germany from 1964 to 1967. He returned and completed studies at Fresno City College in 1969 and Fresno State College in 1971. He taught at Kerman Union High from 1972 to 1974.
John became a Realtor in 1974 and never looked back. He served as a director of Fresno Association of Realtors and Multiple Listing Service. He was chairman of FAR Exchanger for 18 years and was president of San Joaquin Valley Exchangers and a member of National Council of Exchangers.
John retired in 2011. He and his wife, Jeanie, traveled the world over. They loved WWWII bunker hunting in Europe. They met new friends along the way and returned to visit them. John never knew a stranger and was full of stories of their adventures.
John was a proud American and a proud Veteran. He loved God, Country, Jeanie and family. He cherished life, his family and friends. His capacity for loving us made our cup runneth over. John, known as Pop by all, lived a totally blessed life. He could not wait to see God and tell Him how much he appreciated the life he was given.
Joh is survived by his wife, Jeanie, his son Steven Drake and his wife Kim, daughter Dr. Cyndy Curry and her husband Dr. Matthew Curry, five grandchildren, Brittany Pineda and her husband Michael Pineda, Ashley Drake, Chase Curry, Ryder Curry, Emery Curry. Three great-grandchildren Mattix, Jaye, and Maverick Pineda. His brother Paul and his sister Susan. He is also survived by many family members and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving son Scott and his parents.
The family extends special thanks to the CCenter and Dr. Haseeb who gave exemplary care and love to John as well as the oncology team at Clovis Community Hospital. His final step was at Hinds Hospice who provided a peaceful passage for him.
A Celebration of Life will be held at New Hope Community Church in Clovis on August 27, 2018 at 10:30. A reception will follow at Clovis Veterans Memorial Building.
