John Richard “Jack” Plunkett passed away on Tuesday, June 20th, at the age of 85. Born in Anjean, West Virginia, to parents H.T and Leatha Plunkett, Jack graduated from Buchanan High School before attending West Virginia University, where he received his bachelors degree in business. He also met and married his beloved wife, Dolores Marie Queen, and they had three sons: John, Tom, and Jerry.
Following university, Jack served in the US Army and then, for the next 40 years, worked in the shopping center industry traveling and living throughout the US. After retiring in 1990, and being bored, Jack returned to work, and he and Dolores packed up, moving to Thailand and Taiwan for three years, where he consulted on shopping center management and development. Jack remained active his whole life, enjoying golf, skiing, running, and walking. He will be remembered by us all as a very funny guy with a sarcastic sense of humor! Most of all, he will be remembered as a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather (G-Dog), brother, uncle, and friend. We will all miss him.
Jack was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 55 years, Dolores Q. Plunkett, his son Thomas Plunkett, and his grandson Evan Plunkett.
He is survived by son John R. Plunkett Jr. and his wife Michelle; son Jerry Plunkett and his wife Carolyn; grandchildren John R. Plunkett III, Andy Plunkett, Matt Plunkett, T.J. Plunkett, Mickey Plunkett, Katie Plunkett, Hannah Plunkett, and Megan Plunkett; great-grandchildren Audrey and Adam Plunkett; and his dear friend Betty Shelley.
In keeping with Jack’s wishes, a small family service will be held on Sunday, July 2nd 2017. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 2222 W Shaw Ave, Suite 201, Fresno, California 93711 or St. Agnes Hospice, 6729 N Willow Ave #103, Fresno, CA 93710
And as Jack LOVED to say…… TEOT. That’s enough of that!
