Karen fell in love with Dave Waligorski during a trip to Monterey in 1987, and they were married in 1988. Together, they built a loving family, including their daughter Stephanie Curran and son Nicholas Waligorski, all residing in Fresno, California. She is also survived by her father, Paul Reiter, and three grandchildren. She was predeceased by her mother, Betty Reiter, and her sister, Dayna Moiser.
Karen was a beloved member of the Fresno community. In 2008, she was voted Mother of the Year by the Fresno Women's Chamber of Commerce, an honor to which she added a tiara that would be passed on to each year's recipient. She was a dedicated advocate for domestic violence, volunteering at various women's shelters, and her contributions to society were deeply felt.
