I met Marselina (Caroline’s Mom) when in high school. She welcomed me in like I was part of the family. (The whole family did). I spent a lot of time with them back then including family events holidays and weddings etc. She always welcomed me and included me. She taught me how to make tortillas and knitted me booties. When I would stay over her house, she told me that it made her feet cold to see me walking around in bare feet, so she made sure I always had booties to wear. I still have them. As you all know she was a terrific cook and always made sure to send me home with her delicious tamales and sometimes menudo too to share my family after holiday gatherings. (My parents really appreciated it and loved it.) A surprise going away party was even held at their home when I went away to college. I am so very grateful for all those memories. 
I guess our families were always meant to be connected in some way. When my husband Sonny and I had my first child (Jennifer) I asked Caroline to be her Godmother. It was not until the day of the baptism that we realized that Marselina & Philip are actually my husband’s Godparents! I did not realize they even knew each other. I think we were all surprised that day when we realized that. Talk about a coincidence. I still have the beautiful dresses that she knit for Jennifer; they are very special. 
I wish I had stayed in touch more over the years. I have always enjoyed our visits and phone conversations. She had been on my heart lately as I have been thinking of her over the past couple of months and kept telling myself that I needed to phone her and we could perhaps get together for a visit. That just goes to show that we should not wait or hesitate because you may not get the chance. The last time I called her; she was happy to hear from me but asked “What’s wrong?” because she usually hears from me when somebody had passed away and I’m calling to give the bad news. That should be a lesson to us all, I wish I had not hesitated 

My heart is broken without my mom in my life. 😞

I met my mother-in-law Marcelina Moreno 41 years ago when her daughter Ann invited me over for a family dinner. I immediately felt welcomed and saw that the family was close knit and friendly. Throughout the years, I have had the good fortune to be a part of the Moreno family and their ongoing celebration of family and of life. 
Marcelina was an amazing person in so many ways.  She was an expert at creating clothes, dolls, and other craft treasures which she generously gave to family and friends. She won many awards at the county fair. An excellent cook, I always knew I was in for a great meal when we visited.
Most of all my family (Ann, Kristen, and Jennifer) and I will miss her sense of humor, her warmth, and her phone calls. Every day Ann would speak to her, discussing the soap operas that they both watched, how the 49ers and Raiders were doing and anything else that was going on. 
Now we will not hear her voice or her laughter any longer. But we always have the memories of our life with this very special lady. 


Our sincere condolences to the family.  As neighbors I loved visiting with your mom when we were both outside and she has the sweetest smile. She will be missed. 



“Deepest condolences to you and your family for your loss.” I just lost my brother armando Herrera. I recall  we lived across the street  from your family macaria we are the Herrera family again so sorry for your loss 


The sweetest neighbor ever who loved my grand baby as her own.  We cherish our memories and miss her so.  Rest In Peace our dear neighbor.

I love you and miss you grandma. You raised an incredible family and are a great inspiration to me.

I will always see my mom's smiling face and hear her beautiful voice . I miss our daily phone calls. She brought so much happiness  to my life. She was always there for  me and I will miss her terribly.
