Steven Paul Rodriguez was born on July 20, 1978, to his parents Andrew and Lori Rodriguez in Fresno, California. Steven was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, October 10, 2021 at the young age of 43.
Steven is preceded in death by his father Andrew R. Rodriguez and his loving Nana Emilia Reynoso, both passing in 2018.
Steven is survived by his loving fiancé and soulmate Melissa Sosa, his devoted mother Lori, older brother Andrew ‘Drew’, younger brother Nathan Rodriguez, sister-in-law, Ashley Keener; nephew Andrew Rodriguez, his wife Chelsy and their three adorable children Zaniyah, Zahmirah, and Zaylee; Niece Ryan Rodriguez and her handsome son Parker; and his niece Leyah Rodriguez. Steven is also survived by uncles, aunts, and many cousins.
Steven’s early years were spent with his cousins at his Nana’s house celebrating Birthdays, Christmas, Easter, and BBQs on the weekends. Steven and his cousins often talked about their happy memories growing up as siblings. Steven attended Ayer Elementary School, Clark Intermediate, Roosevelt South, and Roosevelt High School.
Steven participated in soccer at Ayer with his dad coaching his teams. He played baseball at Bakman Field and continued playing at Roosevelt High School. After high school he began playing softball with various teams and helped organize ‘Drew’s Crew’ to honor his brother Drew who suffered a brain injury in 2006.
He was a devoted brother to Andrew and helped care for him for many years. Steven and Nathan have stepped up to support their mother in caring for their brother. A job that has not been without heartache.
Steven accepted the Lord as his Savior many years ago. In 2018, he was baptized at The Current Church by Pastor Joe Aldape (Papa Joe). Papa Joe was his spiritual mentor, and he was so loved and respected by Steven. He was also part of the Men’s Bible Study Group. Steven took great pride getting baptized and had his friends and family by his side.
Steven was known for giving support and time for the need of others. He had been serving the Lord for many years just doing life among friends, family, and coworkers. It was no secret that he was a deep thinker and had a deep understanding of the Bible. Everything that he believed in, he stood firm. He was strong and at times a rebel and everyone knew this. His love for the Lord and his strong faith and reliance of the word of God never faltered.
By the grace of God, on October 4, 2021, Steven had seven years of sobriety. He took his sobriety very serious and with great pride. His family will always be so proud of his accomplishments and perseverance.
Steven pursued a career in barbering. He served all his clients with great respect and professionalism and loved his coworkers like family.
He loved all genres of music and had such an appreciation for artists.
Steven found his first true love and soul mate, Melissa Sosa. It was evident the love they shared for eachother. Their bond was special and strong.
Steven will always be loved and missed by his family and friends. The void is great and the pain is deep, but he will forever be in our hearts, minds, and prayers. How do you forget someone who gave you so much to remember? His strong spirit shined through his beautiful smile, the sparkle in his eyes, his laughter, and his joking ways. It was very evident the love he had for the Lord, his love Melissa, his family, friends, and life in which he lived to the fullest.
We are all truly blessed that God shared his beautiful spirit with us on earth. We will all be together again in spirit one day. We love you Steven, forever and ever.
A Celebration of Life for Steven will be held Saturday, April 2, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Starlight Grove Events, 13616 East Bullard, Clovis, California 93619.
