

Cecil Allen Owens, 79, of Freeport, Texas ended his days on Earth on September 21, 2017 in Bryan, Texas. Allen was born on July 15, 1938 in Conroe, Texas to Cecil and Viola Owens. Allen married Doris Salisbury in Freeport, Texas at West End Baptist Church on March 28, 1964.
Allen honorably served in the Army in Fairbanks, Alaska during the Vietnam War. During his service he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal. After serving in the Army, Allen served in the Army Reserve for two years. He worked at Dow Chemical as a plant operator for thirty years. Allen and Doris were happily married for fifty-three years. Allen’s greatest achievement was bringing his four children into the world. He loved and adored his four grandchildren. He loved to build hot rods out of Ford vehicles and would drag race them on the drag strip. There was nothing that Allen would not do for this family and friends. He would make time to throw the football in the back yard, play basketball in the driveway, and hang out with his kids and other kids in the neighborhood. He also coached his son’s pee wee and little league teams. He was an avid Houston Astros fan and had a great sense of humor.
Allen is preceded in death by his mother and father, Viola and Cecil Owens; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Earsel and Nancy Salisbury; brother-in-law Ben Salisbury; granddoggies Mr. B and Sam, and grandkitty Twoosie.
Allen is survived by his wife Doris Owens, son Ray Owens, daughter Lorna Owens, son Corey Owens and girlfriend Brittany Hagan, and daughter Leah (Salim) Amirdache. Grandsons Jackson Owens, Grayson Owens, and Hudson Amirdache, granddaughter Olive Amirdache, brother-in-law John (Nancy) Montgomery, brother-in-law Ray (Earline) Greer, sister-in-law Lynda Salisbury, special family friends Cris McPhail, Judge and Christiana McPhail and children, Mike and Keri McPhail and children, Voltaire Emata, granddoggies Daisy, Poochie, Abby, Cody, and Tucker, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
A visitation service will be held on Monday, September 25, 2017 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Restwood Funeral Home 1038 W. Plantation Dr. Clute, TX 77531. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at 10 a.m. at Restwood Funeral Home. The graveside service will be held immediately following the funeral service.
