

Ernesto Maganas Martinez, 83, of Clute TX, left to be with the Lord on August 3, 2016 in his home surrounded by his loving family. Ernesto was born on November 11, 1932 to Ignacia and Jose Martinez in Schooland, TX. Ernesto married the love of his life, Otilia Anzaldua, in Nixon, TX on July 22, 1956.
Ernesto was a great man with many great skills and hobbies. He loved to hunt and fish, spending time in nature relaxed him and brought him great peace. He loved to dance and loved music, dancing with his wife and children at many parties and events throughout his life. He was a skilled craftsman and loved to work in his ‘Casita’ (workshop).
Ernesto was a longtime member of St. Jerome Catholic Church in Clute where he celebrated his faithHe was a member of the Knights of Columbus for 30 years, and he loved to attend his church and spend time with his brother Knights.
Above all else in his life, Ernesto loved his family, especially his wife.
Ernesto is preceded in death by his parents, Ignacia and Jose Martinez, and fifteen brothers and one sister.
Ernesto is survived by his wife of 60 years, Otilia Martinez; his children, daughters, Diana (husband, Steven) Dean, Teresa (husband, Victor) Pena, Norma (husband, Catarino) Torres; and his son, Johnny Martinez; as well as 16 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his sisters, Maria Diaz and Irene Bermea.
Pallbearers honored to serve are Steve Dean, Steve Dean Jr., Victor Pena, David Pena, Catarino Torres, Hunter Ward, Johnny Martinez, Devin Martinez, and Brendan Martinez.
