

J. T. Key, of Dayton, Texas, was born November 15, 1925 in Oklahoma to Vera Artina (Minyard) and Columbus Monroe Key. He died Sunday, November 26, 2012 in Houston, Texas at the age of 87. He was an avid football fan and knew the sport. He enjoyed all levels of the game, high school, college and the professionals. He held Archie Manning and Peyton Manning in high regard. He never met a stranger and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He worked in the transportation industry for many years driving a truck. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ruby; daughter, Phyllis Rae and a sister, Mary Beth Carter. He is survived by his son Terry Key and his wife Sue, of Dayton, Texas; brothers, Bobby Key of Clute, Texas; Lloyd Key of Cold Springs, Texas, Jerry Wane Key of Brazoria, Texas; 7 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; a special friend, Ms. Judy Jones and his beloved dog, Llave. The family wants to acknowledge Zettie Ball, Barbara Bowen for their help and support. Family will receive friends Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at Restwood Funeral Home from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, November 29, 2012 in the Restwood Funeral Home Chapel with Lonnie Key officiating. Burial will follow in the Restwood Memorial Park with Jacob T. Key, Ryan Lewis, Ronnie Key, Jason Tra Key, Jeremy Todd Key and Bobby Key serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Bennatt and Jeffery Troy Key.
