James was born on December 20, 1941 in Alto TX to parents Scott E. & Alma C. Sharp.
James is preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, John R. Sharp.
James is survived by his wife, Jeannie; son Jason Sharp (Whitney); daughter Lisa Ruhmann (Ron); three grandchildren, Skyler Sharp, Joshua Ruhmann, and Sabrina Sharp. He is further survived by his brothers Melton E. Sharp and Robert L. Sharp.

Visitation will be held at Restwood Funeral Home on Monday January 11, 2016 at 10am, with funeral services following at 11am. A private committal will be held later.
