On the evening of April 7, 2016 Jimmie passed away peacefully of natural causes. Jimmie was being visited and comforted by family members at the Silverado Memory Care facility in Kingwood, Texas.

Jimmie was born November 6, 1928 in Sweetwater, Texas. He was the fifth child of seven born to Percy Forrest and Sadie (Boozer) English. He was voted prettiest baby in Nolan County, according to his mother. He was raised on the family farm and after high school moved to Lockhart, Texas to help his brother, Leo, on his dairy. At age 19 he moved to Lake Jackson, Texas where he met and married Marjorie Lacille Baker on March 28, 1951. He was a Veteran of the Korean War serving from 1950 to 1952 and following that service he returned to Lake Jackson to continue his career with Dow Chemical which included the start-up of a Dow Plant in Germany. He retired at the age of 58 and after retiring consulted on the startup of several Co-generation plants, raised cattle and was very involved with and loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Jimmy possessed a true Servants heart. He served The First Christian Church on the Property Committee, as a Trustee and Deacon, but was adamantly not interested in any positions that had expectations of speaking in public or standing up in front of a crowd. He served with genuine humility and unassuming loyalty. Working constantly and persistently behind the scenes, Jimmy was part of a two-man team that kept the church lawn mowed and the church building maintained for over 45 years. He rarely did anything that needed doing because he had already done it – with no expectation, no praise, no requirement and no praise other than hearing continually from his Heavenly Father, “You are my good and faithful servant”.
Jimmie is preceded in death by his parents Percy Forrest and Sadie (Boozer) English, brothers Armand Louis English and wife Ester, James Leo English and wife Dardnelle, Waiford Franklin English and Robert Forrest English and sister Francis Merle Stanely and husband Horace; in-laws James Richard Jones, Em and Charlie Brown, Virginia “Jinx” and Paul McNutt and James Lyle Baker.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Marjorie Lacille (Baker) English; sister Martha Jean Jones; children Gregory Lee English and wife Susan, Mark Vincent English and wife Janel and Darla LaReese Winkelmann and husband Nathan; grandchildren Linda English, Justin English, Percy English, Casey Shelley, Haley Mica, Courtney Wilson, Carlee Wright, Katie Swarr and Marylynn Stevens; seven great grandchildren with two on the way; in-laws Jeanette English, Millie English, Herbert “Buddy” and Jo Baker, Margaret Matlock Baker and Linda Rae and Bo Pehlam; and a great number of nephews and nieces (too many to count!).
Pallbearers will be Justin English, Percy English, Brent Mica, Bruce Shelley, Blake Wilson, Jeffery Wright and Michael Swarr. Honorary pallbearers will be special friends Freddy Mathis, Norman Shaw and Pete Taylor.
Special thanks to the wonderful caregivers at Kruse Village in Brenham and to Visiting Angels, Silverado Memory Care and the Hospice staff in Kingwood.
