Jose Maria Velez

Jose M. Velez (Chops), was born on May 30, 1979, in Galveston, Texas. He left this world on April 20, 2025, at the age of 45, surrounded by his family. Jose was preceded in death by his father, Jose Velez Sr., and his grandparents, Julian and Leandra Rodriguez.

He is survived by his mother, Francis Martinez, and stepfather, Fernando Martinez. Jose leaves behind two sisters, Raquel Velez and Francis DeLaFuente, and his brother, Felipe Nava Jr. (Et), and wife, Angela. And good friend and mother to his children, Maria Acevedo.

Jose was a devoted father to his eight children: Isaiah Acevedo, Juan Rojo, Araceli Velez, Jose G. Velez, Jacob Rivas, Trent Velez, Trey Velez, and Kynlie Velez. He also cherished his granddaughter, Janelle Acevedo, and held a special place in his heart for his twelve nieces and nephews.

A longtime resident of Clute, Texas, Jose had an undeniable passion for his family and was an avid fan of the Houston Astros and Houston Texans. His spirit and love will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A visitation for Jose will be held Thursday, May 1, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Restwood Funeral Home, 1038 West Plantation Dr., Clute, TX 77531.

A funeral service will occur Friday, May 2, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM, 1038 West Plantation Dr., Clute, TX 77531.

A graveside service will occur Saturday, May 3, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Restwood Memorial Park, 1038 West Plantation Dr., Clute, Texas 77531.
