Joseph Corbin Wray lived life to the fullest for over 26 years, passing away on October 29, 2020 in Richwood, Texas. Joe was born to Thomas Michael Wray and Debra Anne Wray on January 16, 1994, in Nacogdoches, Texas. Joe was blessed with a second loving father when Debra married Paul Edward Furrh, Jr., in 1996. Joe was raised by a village that loved him fiercely.
Joe will be remembered for his irresistible smile that would light up a room, the WWE moves he frequently practiced on his siblings, his vast athletic shoe collection, and his infectious laughter during shenanigans that are legendary among Joe’s family and friends. As a youth, Joe loved baseball, playing on multiple All Star and Select Teams. Joe never met a fish he couldn’t catch, winning the state Kid Fish Tournament and receiving a trophy taller than he was.
After attending Brazoswood High School, Joe graduated from Ft. Davis High School in Ft. Davis, Texas, where he played basketball and tended neglected and abused horses. Joe attended Sul Ross State University.
As an adult, Joe loved to travel and was proof that not all who wander are lost. He hiked extensively in Utah and loved the mountains of California, Colorado, Oregon and Washington. During his travels, Joe discovered a passion for gardening and eventually turned his passion into a business. He loved the horticulture industry and traveled the country locating new hybrid plants to introduce at market.
Anyone lucky enough to call Joe a friend knew they had a brother for life. Joe had a soft spot for abandoned animals and struggling humans. He brought home at least a dozen dogs, convincing his family that each one needed a home - his home. To his friends he offered encouragement and support, never forgetting a birthday, anniversary or important milestone. Joe’s genuine love for family and friends enriched so many lives and resulted in joyful (and often surprising) stories to tell. For example, who knew Joe enjoyed the ballet?
Joe is preceded in death by his twin sisters Chloe Isabella and Nola Pilar Furrh; and grandparents Roberta Wray, Edward Taylor, and Paul Furrh, Sr.
Joe is survived by siblings Brittany Wray Cope and husband Stephen Cope, True Furrh, Noah Furrh, Maddie Furrh, Jeffrey Furrh and wife Shelley Furrh, and Blake Furrh; parents Debra and Paul Furrh, Jr., and Thomas Wray; grandparents Joseph and Teena Altizer; and his beloved partner, Katherine Morales.
Honorary Pallbearers are Stephen Cope, Shawn Cross, Blake Furrh, Noah Furrh, True Furrh, Callan Hurst, Brandon Lewis, and Christopher Ventura.
Joe will be lovingly laid to rest in a private service on November 10, 2020. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the SPCA of Brazoria County. Arrangements are by Restwood Funeral Home.
