There will be a private family funeral at St. Timothy’s. A burial service will be held at Crestview Memorial Park in Wichita Falls, Texas on Saturday, December 12th at 1:00 in the afternoon.
Margo was the daughter of Broyles and Jackie Hall. She was born on July 20, 1951 in Wichita Falls, Texas. Margo graduated from Wichita Falls High School and then attended Vanderbilt University and the University of Texas in Austin where she graduated in 1974. It was at the University of Texas that she met the love of her life, Bob Hearn who she always referred to as Bobby. They spent many hours drinking coffee and studying Organic Chemistry at the Student Union and became fast friends. After college, Margo became a VISTA volunteer and moved to Great Falls, Montana to serve as a manager for a group home for mentally handicapped adults. Bob, who was now working for Dow Chemical in Freeport, Texas, visited her and they took a trip to Glacier National Park in Montana and to Banff and Lake Louise in Canada. This was when their love story began. After her one year of service with VISTA, Margo moved to New Orleans and took a lab technician job at Tulane University. Bob would also come and visit her in New Orleans until he finally convinced her to move to Lake Jackson, Texas near his job. Bob and Margo were married in 1978 and had more than 42 years of love and devotion.
Margo held several jobs in the Lake Jackson area ranging from retail to lab technician. However, her main job was raising her 3 children John, Will, and Meredith. She was the classic “helicopter mom” and proud of it. She was every child’s room mother for many years. Outside of school, Margo made sure the children were involved in summer swim league, gymnastics, dance, soccer, baseball, basketball, cub scouts, choir, and piano. Margo was very active in church choir, first at Holy Comforter Episcopal Church in Angleton, Texas and then at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church in Lake Jackson. She was devoted to attending and supporting the church and made sure her family was very involved. Margo insisted that music, the church, and Christ were a central part of the family. After the birth of her grandchildren, her name became GoGo and after her cancer diagnosis, she became Super GoGo. One special connection Margo and Bobby shared was the same birthday and birth year and for years they had big celebrations with family and friends on their birthday. However, the highlight of Margo’s year was the annual summer vacation trip to Northern New Mexico which began when she was a child. The now extended family still follows this beloved tradition.
Margo is survived by her husband Bob, son John and wife Karen, son Will and wife Jenna, daughter Meredith and husband Austin, three grandsons, Evan, Owen, and Hank, and a new baby granddaughter to be born in January, a brother John Hall and wife Carrie, a sister-in-law Suzanne Kircher and husband Richard, niece Sharidan and husband Ryan, and nephew Matt and wife Meghan. Margo left a legacy of enduring love as an example for her husband, children, grandchildren, niece, nephew, and many great nieces and nephews, and cousins. Margo never met a stranger. She was a friend to all and loved by many.
Margo was preceded in death by her son Andrew Robert Hearn, her parents Broyles and Jackie, her sister Laurel Hall, and sister-in-law Caroline Hall.
Memorials may be made to M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church in Lake Jackson, Texas, or St Christopher’s Episcopal Church in League City, Texas.
