

Martha Gayle Baker, 64, of Jones Creek Texas lost her courageous battle with cancer on June 23, 2012. Martha was born June 9, 1948 in Freeport, Texas to Lewis and Dovie Gaye (Newsome) Reed. Martha is preceded in death by her parents and baby brother, Caney. She is survived by her husband of 45 years Dale “E. D.” Baker; daughters Kim (Dwayne) Leger and Shannon (Ernie) Morris; brothers Wayne (Betty) Berry, Charles (Michelle) Reed; sisters Charlene Broussard, Cynthia (Jasper) Thomas and Gaynell Reed; grandchildren Colton Leger, Zachary Inlow, Kelsey Inlow, Kylie Leger and Shanley Mosqueda and numerous nieces and nephews. Martha was a graduate of Brazosport High School of 1966. Martha partook in many activities in the area. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Velasco Chapter 220, She was a beautician for many years, even volunteered her time at many nursing homes doing hair. Martha loved to play the piano. She played for years at Jones Creek Baptist Church. She played a huge part in the Citizens Police Academy in Lake Jackson, Texas in which she served as President. Most of all Martha was as loving Wife, Mother and Grandmother. She loved spending time with her Grandchildren and spoiling them. She was faithful to God and was a wonderful friend to all who knew her and loved her. She will be missed dearly. Visitation will be at Restwood Funeral Home on Tuesday June 26, 2012 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at Jones Creek Baptist Church at 10:00 am. Burial will follow in the Hebron Baptist Church Cemetery in Yoakum, Texas. The Family wished to express a very special Thank You to The Hospice Care Team, Deedee Mize and Laura Hebert.
