Reuben Neiswander

Reuben was born on September 3, 1934, in Marion, Arkansas, to Oscar and Rea Neiswander.

He was married to the love of his life, Juanita Neiswander, for 67 years. The couple spent the

first two years of their marriage in Germany while Reuben was serving in the United States

Army. They eventually settled in Lake Jackson, where they lovingly raised their three daughters -

Connie, Robin, and Stacy.

Reuben was a retired mechanical engineer, completing a long and dedicated career with BASF.

Yet his greatest work was found in the way he served others and lived out his faith with quiet

strength and humility. His example as a man of faith seeking God’s will for his family impacted

so many family members and friends.

A devoted member of First Baptist Church Lake Jackson, Reuben served faithfully as a deacon

and Sunday School teacher. He was also a cherished member of the church choir, lifting his

voice in worship and finding joy in music that reflected his faith. His heart for missions carried

him across the world - to South Africa, Russia, Alaska, and Mexico - where he shared the gospel,

built relationships, and offered help wherever it was needed. With Juanita, he volunteered at

summer camps for special-needs children and youth, giving his time, patience, and steady

presence to young people who adored him.

Reuben is survived by his daughters Connie Bowen (Jon), Robin Smith (Mark), and Stacy

Neiswander. He is also survived by his grandchildren Cody Smith (Ashlyn), Allie Smith (Nick

Burt), and granddaughter-in-law Lindsey Bowen; and by his great-grandchildren Calleigh and

Tanner Bowen, Aiden Perkins, Maverick Smith, Weston and Jaxson Burt, and Braxton Smith.

He is also survived by his brother Bruce Neiswander.

Reuben is preceded in death by his beloved wife Juanita Neiswander, his parents Oscar and

Rea Neiswander, his brother Oscar Neiswander, his sisters Billy Knox and Doll Holloway, and

his grandson Clint Bowen.

A visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m. on May 15, 2026, followed by a 2:00 p.m. service at First

Baptist Church Lake Jackson, where family and friends will gather to celebrate Reuben’s life

and legacy. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Baptist Church Lake Jackson,

Texas.

Reuben lived a life of compassion, faith, and unwavering devotion to others. His legacy

continues in the many lives he touched - in his family, his church, and in communities across the

world.
