

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Thomas Johnson, Jr. (1998) and one of her sons, Michael J. Johnson (1980). Anita had three siblings who preceded her in death, all since December 2020: the Honorable Judge Robert G. Faircloth, age 101 (Birmingham, AL), Patricia (Elaine) Faircloth Lichter, age 94 (Sandy Springs, GA), and Marilyn Faircloth Prine, age 85 (Centre, AL/formerly Cocoa Beach, FL).
She is survived by her children: John P. Johnson, PhD (Maurie) of North Charleston, SC, Lynda T. Gray (Gary) of Merritt Island, FL and Don T. Johnson of Cocoa Beach, FL.
Anita is also survived by her younger sister, Wanelle Faircloth Graham (Bill) of Gainesville, FL/Cocoa Beach, FL.
Additionally, Mrs. Johnson is survived by eight grandchildren: Michael E. Johnson, PhD (LeeAnn), Dawn Burch, Scott P. Johnson, Traci Johnson Risher (Sean), John A. Johnson (Kirsten), Lloyd Sills, Courtney Johnson Luhmann and Sarah Elizabeth Pilgreen.
Great grandchildren are: Chloe Johnson Ely, Heather Cameron, David Bruce, Kaitlyn Prine, Zachary Prine, Eva Risher, Nathan Risher, Karissa Johnson, Sarah Luhmann, Cheyenne Luhmann, Liam Stump and Emma Leigh Stump. Her extended family includes many great-great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Born in Tennille, Georgia situated halfway between Macon and Savannah (named for a former citizen). As a young wife and new mother, Anita, along with Tommy raised their first three children abroad determined by his United States Army Post location. First in Japan, later in Stuttgart, Germany and Salzburg, Austria before returning to Fort Bragg in Fayetteville, NC. Upon completion of his Vietnam service, Anita and Tommy bought a home in Cocoa Beach, FL to be near family.
For over 20 years, at Merritt Square Mall, later at Melbourne Square Mall, Anita very much enjoyed working for her great friend and boss, Glenda Larson Fisher, owner of multiple area Merle Norman Studios.
A family visitation will take place at noon on Saturday, Dec. 18 in the Brevard Memorial Park chapel (5475 N. US Hwy 1, Cocoa, FL 32927). A brief graveside Memorial will follow at 12:30.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated in Anita’s memory. Long remembered, forever loved.
