

Betty was preceded in death by her parents Robert Dewy and Elizabeth Herwig; her first husband Harvey Atkins; her second husband Ed Little; her brothers Lloyd (June), Ken, Robert, and Fred (“Bus”); her sisters Ruth, Marge and Shirley; her infant daughter Joyce; and her granddaughter Jackie (Atkins) Bean.
She is survived by her sister Janet Irwin (Texas); sister-in-law Louella Herwig (Pennsylvania); her sons Richard Atkins (Florida), Sonny Atkins( wife Emz, California), Dennis Atkins (Wife Jenny, Florida), Perry (Christy, Georgia), Matthew Trent (wife Elizabeth, Pennsylvania); daughters Nancy Bonadio (Florida) and Patti Weimer (husband Bill, Pennsylvania). She is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces, grandsons, granddaughters and great grandkids.
Betty was born in Somerset, PA but grew-up in Friedens, PA. She married Harvey Atkins and moved to Somerset, PA where she raised her children and lived in different neighborhoods. She worked as a housekeeper and cleaning lady. She worked at the American Legion and Coffee Shop in Somerset, PA. She lived in the Keys a few years and lived with her son Richard and worked at The Breezeswept Hotel. She moved to Port St. John, FL and met and married Ed Little. She attended First United Methodist Church in Port St. John and spent time at the Community Center where she enjoyed playing cards, playing bingo and socializing. After Ed passed she moved in with her daughter Nancy in Titusville, FL. Eventually she was diagnosed with Dementia and was admitted into Island Health Assisted Living where she spent her last years before passing away.
Betty fought a courageous battle with Dementia – she was a very loving wife, mother and grandmother. She treated everyone she met with love and respect and provided her best for her kids. She never met anyone that didn’t love her and enjoy being around her.
Services will be held at Brevard Memorial Funeral Home in Port St. John, FL on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at 2:00 PM.
