Ethel Corliss was born in Swedesboro, NJ on May 20, 1921 to William and Anna Doerrmann. She died April 22 at age 102 in Venice, FL. She graduated from Banks Business College. Ethel married James Corliss at the end of WWII. He was a master sergeant in the Air Force. They were stationed at several air bases, including Hawaii, Tripoli and Libya. Ethel worked as a secretary with the government and was an outstanding stenographer. Up until her death she wrote notes in shorthand.
When her husband died in 1999, Ethel moved to Venice, FL to be near her daughter. She lived there for 25 years. She enjoyed going to dinner at Capt. Eddie's Seafood Restaurant, owned by her daughter. She was an avid Atlanta Braves fan. Now they lost their #1 fan! Her hobbies were playing the piano, reading her kindle, sudoku, and gardening. She loved caring for her roses.
Ethel and James loved going on road trips across the country, visiting almost all of the national parks. Ethel had a passion for covered bridges and they would search for those on their trips.
Ethel is survived by her two daughters, Jane Corliss and Debbie Norris (William Norris) and her two grandchildren, Jill and Bradley, and many nieces and nephews who all loved her dearly.
