

John was born in the Coal Hills of Pennsylvania in November 1937. John and his wife, Marlene moved to New Jersey where they began their family. They moved to Port St. John, Florida in the early 60's where they remained. John worked very proudly over 45 years at the Kennedy Space Center. He retired at the time of the shutdown of the Space Shuttle Program. John enjoyed his job and took a lot of pride in it. He and his wife enjoyed riding with a local Gold Wing Chapter.
John was a family man and his family meant everything to him. He and Marlene had 4 kids, 8 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. John was known as Dad, Grandpa, Great Grandpa and Great Opa and loved being surrounded by all the kids. He was "Dad" to many. He loved telling those stories of his childhood, taking them on trips or fishing or sitting on the back patio while they all played in the pool.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marlene, Daughter Diane and great granddaughter Lucciana. He is survived by his son John Symons (Sherri) of Crestview, FL, Daughter Lori Girard, Port St. John, FL and Marlene Phillips, Port St. John FL, grandchildren Jennifer Reed(Matthew) Tallahassee, FL, Jamie Moran, Port St John, FL, Jessica Cowan (Jonathan, Jacksonville, FL, Stacy Guy of Port St John, FL , Julie Moran of Port St John, FL, Christian Phillips(Bethany) of Plymouth, IN, Chelsea McGlothlin of Greenville, SC and James Moran of Brooklyn, NY and 13 great grandchildren.
