Judy was born in Wilson, North Carolina on July 22, 1942 to Louis Whitley and Pauline Conyers. She is preceded in death by her husband, Stu McGuire, her daughter, Natalie Norwood; and sister Margie Mooring(Chester). She is survived by her son, Charlie Norwood, his wife Danielle and their two children – Chaeli and Chase, and her daughter Nikki Woxberg, her husband Terry and their two children: Terry Jr. and Trace; her first husband, Charles Norwood; brothers, Joseph (Diane), Doug (Judy) and Barry (Vicki) Whitley; dozens of cousins, nieces and nephews as part of an extensive network of family and friends; and her very special dogs and granddogs.
She moved to Florida in 1956 and graduated from Cocoa High School in 1960. Upon graduation, she began working for NASA, however, her artistic passion quickly moved her into an extremely successful, 36-year career as an Interior Designer. She spent the majority of those years with Indian River Furniture where she retired in 1996 leaving Brevard a more beautiful place to live. Her second passion was working in her immense and immaculate yard. She could always be found trimming and cultivating plants and flowers, and picking up leaves…she couldn’t stand leaves. :)
Judy was the best cook in the world. Her fried chicken and Italian Cream Cake were well known in our family. She loved to throw parties where she cooked for days to prepare. Judy was a phenomenal mother and grandmother, devoted wife, loving sister, steadfast friend and, must mention, great dancer who emulated patience and love through her selfless giving. She was gracious and kind, frequently thinking of others and their needs first. She was an incredible model of strength who faced her challenges quietly, always with a positive attitude and unbreakable drive and heard often saying, “This, too, shall pass”. She will be greatly missed, and forever remembered.
Please come celebrate Judy’s life with us at her memorial service being held at Brevard Memorial, 5475 U.S. 1, Cocoa, FL 32927, Wednesday, July 29th at 2:00pm followed by the inurnment and a reception.
