

Michiko was born on June 5th, 1937 in Ichinoseki-Shi, Iwate-Ken, Japan to Sakane and Kiyone Chida.
She graduated from Tokyo Female Physical Short Term College with an Associate’s Degree in 1958. She was then a teacher and lecturer at several high schools in Iwate-ken and for the Ichinoseki Board of Education. In 1967, she married David E. Shepherd in Tokyo, Japan, and came to the United States in 1968.
Michiko worked as an electronics assembler and supervisor at Dictaphone Corporation in Melbourne for 24 years, retiring in 2006.
Michiko enjoyed being a grandmother, and was so proud of her granddaughter, Sierra, and grandson, Matthew. She loved working outside in her garden and raising orchids. She also loved laughing, Pecan Sandies and telling the truth.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, David E. Shepherd, her daughter, Michelle (Shepherd) Wells, of Aiken, South Carolina, her son, Michael Shepherd of Orlando, Florida, and her grandaughter and grandson, Sierra and Matthew Shepherd. She is also survived by her sisters, Kiyoko Chida and Sachiko Chida, and her brother, Kazuyoshi Chida, of Japan.
She is predeceased by her brother, Nobuyoshi Chida, and her sister, Shizuko Chida, of Japan.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Brevard Memorial Funeral Home in Cocoa, Florida on Thursday, June 15th at 1 PM
