Reba Louise Wagner Hayes, 79, of Cocoa, FL passed away Saturday, November 3, 2018. Born in Washington, D.C. on January 3, 1939, Reba's home was in Oxon Hill, Md. until the family relocated to Cocoa in 1982. She quickly found her place at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, where she remained an active member of their community.
Reba was a devoted wife and mother, God and her family came first. She loved helping her church family and devoted herself to helping in any way she could. She is known for her gardening and planting, where she provided all the planting for the church for many years. Reba holds the title of first woman manager of the A&P grocery store, a once male dominated occupation.
She enjoyed bingo, sewing, and creating unique crafts with her husband Ed, and selling those wares at shows. She was an avid water skier and those who knew Reba were in awe of her intellect and ability to conquer any task.
She adored her children, and grandchildren, and had a close relationship with each. She has a truly giving spirit, and was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone she encountered.
Reba was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Hayes Sr. in 2003.
She is survived by her children: Edward M. Hayes, Jr. (Susan), Ellisa Hayes, Tracy A. Hayes (Sharon), and Daniel Hayes; five grandchildren: Sara, Eddie, Christopher, Steven, Stephanie; and great grandchildren: Eddie and Nathan. She will be dearly missed by her church community.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
Visitation will be held at Brevard Memorial Funeral Home on Thursday, November 8, 2018 from 5-7:30PM with the wake service to begin at 6PM. Funeral Mass will be held at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church on Friday November 9 at 12:30PM. She will be laid to rest beside her husband at Brevard Memorial Park following services.
