My name is Neil. I'm from Nottinghamshire in England, UK. Shirlene and I met online in the early 2000's when the internet was in it's infancy. I was young then too, 18 in year 2000, gay yet fearing coming out and Shirlene, so funny, verbose and warm was the first friend I ever made online. We wrote letters to each other and spoke for hours on the phone. I have been trying to find her as we had lost touch when I went away to university and I'm so sad, even so many years after the fact, to learn that she has passed away. I remember her so fondly and with genuine love in my heart for her. She made such a difference to my overall outlook which in turn gave rise to far more confidence than I would have had if I hadn't met her. May her family remember her in the knowledge that her influence spread across the pond into Europe and that she is thought of so very, very fondly. I will remember her until the day I die. Rest in peace Angel, from your father-confessor, Neil.

Shocked and saddened cannot begin to describe how I felt when heard the news of Shirlene's passing. I had planned to reach out to her in today to wish her a happy birthday, as we hadn't touched base in years. I used to be one of Shirlene's work study students at UM in the early 90's. She was so much fun to be around and was like a big sister to me. I don't know  anyone who ever spoke ill of Shirlene. My heart goes out to her family. Shirlene, may God bless and keep you, and I hope to see you again after my time on earth is through. Love always, Sean.
