Walter L. Bryan, Sr., a former Brevard County resident for more than 50 years, died September 5, 2018, at the age of 88, in Union, Kentucky. Walter was born on August 12, 1930, in Nashville, Georgia to Bruce and Vidala Bryan (deceased).
Walt and his wife, O’Dessa (deceased) were the owners and operators of the Dog Gone Grocery on Merritt Island, Florida from 1975 to 2003, when they retired. Walt enjoyed gardening and fishing. He was an Honorary Past Master at the Merritt Island Masonic Lodge 353 for over 50 years and attended Clearlake Baptist Church in Cocoa, Florida.
Walt is survived by his sons, Walter L. Bryan, II (Barbara) and Charles D. Reed (Susan), his daughters Deborah Reed Lientz (Nicholas) and Patricia Reed Hughes (Kenneth); grandchildren Rocky, Stacy, Chris, Michael, Walter L. Bryan III (Tres) and Mariah together with four great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife O’Dessa L. Bryan, parents Bruce and Vidala Bryan and siblings Larry, Bobbie Jean, Carson, James and Gene.
Visitation will be held Friday, September 14, 2018, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Brevard Memorial Funeral Home, 5475 N. U.S. Hwy 1, Cocoa, Florida, with funeral and graveside services held on Saturday, September 15, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at Brevard Memorial.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the American Heart Association.
