

Edwin (Ed) Ellis Lilley died on March 29, 2012 at St. Joseph Regional Health Center, Bryan Texas, with his wife Janie by his side. Visitation will be Sunday, April 1, at 6:30 to 8:30 P.M. at Memorial Funeral Chapel in College Station. Private burial will be held in the Aggie Field of Honor at College Station Memorial Cemetery on Monday, April 2, Followed by a memorial service at Christ United Methodist Church at 1:30 P.M., also on Monday, April 2.
Ed was born August 22, 1936, in Polk County, Texas, and was the son of Thomas George Lilley and Mary Ila Farrar Lilley. He attended Big Sandy schools from first grade through twelfth. He graduated from Allen Junior College in Bryan, where he was awarded the Caldwell Award, an award for the outstanding sophomore. He played junior college basketball at Allen and worked on campus. After graduation, Ed enrolled in Texas A&M. While enrolled in A&M, Ed coached the Allen Academy High School basketball team. A member of the class of 1958, Ed graduated from Texas A&M in 1959 with a degree in Petroleum Engineering.
After graduating from A&M Ed went to work for Tidewater Oil Company in Venice, Louisiana. He served in the US Army and was stationed at Ft. Benning, Georgia and Ft. Hood, Texas. After his military service, Ed returned to Venice to resume working for Tidewater. His career with Tidewater, later merged with Getty Oil, which took him from Venice to Houston, Victoria, Texas, Midland, Texas, Andrews, Texas, Houston, Gretna, Louisiana and back to Houston. In 1984 he moved to Midland and worked for Wagner and Brown, an independent oil company. After retiring in 1996 he and Janie moved to College Station in 1997.
Ed married Janie Copley, June 15, 1963 in Victoria, Texas. They were blessed with two children, Steven Wayne Lilley and Dana Louise Lilley.
Ed was an enthusiastic hunter, golfer and fly fisherman. He loved to travel and spent much of his vacations and retirement travelling. A talented painter, he painted landscapes with oils which hang in some homes of family and friends. He was a loving and caring person and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife, Janie; son, Steve and daughter-in-law, Natalie of Dallas; daughter, Dana and son-in-law, Robert (Howdy) Fort also of Dallas; and daughter-in-law, Lisa Alexander Lilley of The Colony; grandchildren, are Paige Lilley, Jack Lilley, and Sam Lilley; also surviving are brothers, Clayton Lilley and wife, Sandra of Dallardsville, Texas, and Lester Lilley and wife Evelyn of Houston; sister-in-law, Jackie Lilley of Plano and Loeta Oliver Lilley of Houston; and host of nieces and nephews.
Ed wad preceded in death by his parents, his sister Edith Lilley Kreuzer his brother Robert, and brothers-in-law Francis Cruz and Paul Kreuzer, Jr.
