

He was born on February 18, 1912 in Commerce, Texas. He graduated Fort Worth Central High School in Fort Worth, Texas in 1928, at the age of 16. He graduated from Texas A&M in 1935 and was in the pioneer class of Petroleum Production Engineering. He was a member of the 1934 Texas A&M Southwest Conference championship baseball team.
After graduating, he served in the Pacific campaign as a Battery Commander in WWII and served on General MacArthur's Staff at the end of the war where he was a Lt. Colonel.
He had a successful career in the oil drilling business. Mike started his own drilling company, Dillingham Drilling Co., which he owned and operated until 1977 in Alice, TX. He spent much of his retired years traveling with Georgia to Colorado and Kerrville with their trailer, spending time with family, telling old tales of his life experiences, and attending Aggie sporting events where they had the same first deck seats since 1967. He and his wife Georgia have been very philanthropic towards the university. They support the university through several gift annuities and a significant bequest for the Corps of Cadets, in addition to funding multiple General Rudder Scholarships. He was a member of the A&M Church of Christ.
Mike will be lovingly remembered by a multitude of special friends and family, many of whom describe him as a hero and role model. He is preceded in death by his parents Sarah and Thomas Dillingham, his sister Mary, and two brothers, Thomas and Harley "Dutch" Dillingham, Class of '22.
He is survived by his loving wife of 27 years Georgia R. Dillingham, his nephews Steven and Norman Spencer and his nieces Sarah Sheldon and Kay Dillingham, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Monday, January 5th at the A&M Church of Christ in College Station. Burial will immediately follow at the Aggie Field of Honor in the Memorial Cemetery of College Station. Services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Chapel in College Station.
