SHARON RAE MULLER was born on August 31, 1946-her soul mate husband Frank also born on August 31only four years earlier. Sharon lived life with caring and loving to those important to her. She loved the sun and her special home in Galveston. She adored the beaches and her favorite place was St John Virgin Islands where she traveled to for twenty years of her life. Sharon began life with humble rustic roots in Oklahoma but worked very hard to become a person that was impossible to replace in every business opportunity she tackled both domestic and international. With a twinkle in her eyes, this gorgeous blond, with a smile that made people turnaround with amazement--- this was Sharon!
Sharon grew up in the small town of Barnsdall Oklahoma. Her parents Ray and Edna Swanson were both members of the Greatest Generation. They instilled in Sharon at a young age the values of hard work, discipline, as well as personal accountability. These values stayed with Sharon all her life and she inspired those that worked with and for her these same values. Her two sisters Carolyn and Cindy and her brother Jerry were always amazed at Sharon’s quiet determination to leave a small town and travel the world both in business as well as pleasure.
First moving to Tulsa, Sharon entered banking, then the William’s companies and finally Devco International which was her dream job where she was part of a team that created a highly successful multimillion dollar commodity company with offices in Europe and the Middle East. Sharon traveled and was fully responsible for all letters of credit and transport. Creating a startup company and watching it successfully grow was her passion. In the late 80’s, Sharon moved to Houston changing professions to commercial real-estate with a very prominent Aggie for five years. Then it was off to the West end of Galveston where she bought Wolverton Realty. For fourteen fun filled years with Vicki, Lynnae, Charlene, Malissa, and Annabell they became specialists in renting upscale ocean homes. The permanent move with her soul mate to Jamaica Beach occurred during these happy years. Vacations were plenty with more than 25 cruises specializing in rock and roll themes always having Paul Revere and the Raiders present. At least twice a year there were trips to Germany to race the autobahns with her husband and then taking trips along the Mosel and the Rhine rivers- yes life was fun- both full of work and pleasure. Later longer vacations took them to St John every year – first for a week then two, and then the time reached five weeks. Every year always in a villa at the top of Catherineberg in the national forest overlooking four islands with dozens of rainbows every day!
Of course being an Aggie family much time was spent at numerous events and organizations on the main and Galveston campus. Sharon loved life, and was a special AGGIE MOM, Her daughters Lisa ‘92 and Christa, 96, her grandchildren, Brandon ‘21, Justin ‘24, Sarah ‘27, and Lauren’28, as well as son in laws Ryan and Wei’95. Also there was son Frank ‘88 and daughter in law Lisa ’90 and children Whitney ‘16, Elizabeth ‘18, and Frank IV ‘21. Sharon loved her German Shepherds Laredo, Waco, Sherman, and Maverick. She and her soul mate lived on the water with beautiful sunsets on the west end of Galveston and vacations took her to the beaches of St John and the north island –Doubtless Bay in New Zealand. Yes life was perfect in the final twenty – years! A good friend of Sharon said she was beautiful both inside as well as outside. Her radiant smile and bright eyes lit up a room. As we traveled Sharon was constantly stopped on the street all the time as many thought she was Farrah Fawcett as they looked so much alike. She had an uncanny ability with her warm and loving way to put people at ease and feel welcome with her wonderful energy and tenderness.
Sharon who had never been sick and who worked out 5 days a week was on a barge trip in the south of France with a close group of the Muller family that she loved when she felt not at the top of her game. So upon return to Houston the diagnosis of pancreatic cancer came and the powerful Aggie family surrounded her with prayers, love, and laughter. During her battle with this cancer she was stoic and calm as she had hundreds of caring friends and Aggies praying for her on this journey.
Sharon was a devoted AGGIE Mom with a loving heart but very private as an external person who listened much more than she spoke. Sharon lived life and loved those she chose with a passion --- Yes she did it her way! Sharon dared to dream but more importantly she lived life to the fullest measure. Toast her life with a hug to your loved one, a glass of wine, or a prayer to God because Sharon lived and loved her life with hard work, happiness and hope that others may try to do the same path. In the surprising end the almighty God came calling but even then she continued to love her soul mate and children with a beautiful smile and no regrets. At the end of our roads may we all wish to be as happy, as driven, and as loved! Sharon never complained and her strong faith in God gave her a quiet peace and calm. Would we all be so lucky to love life on her terms and to leave the party on such a high note? Remember that smile that could make butter melt!
