Virginia Rebecca Bockholt

Virginia (Startz) Bockholt of College Station, Texas passed away peacefully on May 9, 2026 at age 93. She was born February 15, 1933 in Shiner, Texas to Herman F. and Christine (Janca) Startz. She was the fifth of six children. She was so happy when her baby brother was born because now she could go to school and her mother would not be alone. This love of school shined as she graduated as salutatorian of her class from Orange Grove High School.

Virginia met Anton J. (Tony) Bockholt at a dance, and they married later on June 11, 1952. Their first two years of marriage were spent in Fort Knox, Kentucky where Tony served in the U. S. Army. They then moved to College Station in 1954 when Tony joined the faculty at Texas A&M. In their 60 years of marriage, they shared a love of gardening, dancing, and travel. They had two daughters, Ginny Lynn and Christiane; followed by 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Virginia was an accomplished artist winning a blue ribbon at the Brazos County Art Show. She also had a private showing of her paintings. Virginia also loved music, her flowers, sewing, and family. She worked especially hard at re-establishing connections with her extended family. She was generous and compassionate to those in need.

She was predeceased by her husband, her parents, all her siblings, and one grandchild. May she rest in peace.

Visitation will be held at Memorial Funeral Chapel College Station, 2901 Texas Ave South, College Station, TX 77845, US, on May 18, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, with a Rosary at 5:00 pm.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St Mary’s Catholic Church, 300 Nagle St, College Station, TX 77840, US, on May 19, 2026, at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow at College Station City Cemetery, 2530 Texas Ave S, College Station, TX 77840, US, on May 19, 2026.
