Bettye Jane Reece

Bettye Jane Reece, age 94, of Bedford, Texas passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Wednesday, September 27, 2023. She was born on March 9, 1929, in Bryans Mill, TX, to the late Louise & Fred Coker.

Bettye was a woman of a strong Christian faith. She was a long standing member of Wedgwood Baptist Church in Ft. Worth, TX where she served in their music department playing the piano. Later she became the pianist for her Community Church at Parkwood Independent Living, where she continued to play until the Lord called her home.

Bettye is survived by her 3 sons and their wives, Gary and Barbara, Mark and Melissa, Fred and Judy, daughter and husband Robin and Rob Newton, grandsons and their wives Jeff and Julie, Colton and Ashley, Ryan, Kyle, granddaughters and their husbands Jenny and Jason Conrad, Madison and Jordan George, McKenzie Reece, great-grandchildren Haley and Tyler Conrad, Emily and Brinley Reece, and Camden and Torrin Forrest. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Paris Garfield Reece Jr., and grandson Dakota Lane Reece.

Bettye always found solace and joy in playing the piano and watercolor painting up until her final days. She was an avid reader, always eager to delve into the pages of a good book. After graduating from Texas State College for Women where she honed her gifts, she spent the first part of her career teaching music to 1-12th grade. After marriage, she was the accountant for the family business, later finding her favorite profession as a travel agent. She and Paris traveled the world and after he passed, she continued traveling to the most beautiful sites with Plein air travel groups creating her best work.

Bettye got her gratification in helping others. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends and loved ones. Her legacy of love, quick wit, music, art, and exploration will continue to inspire the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

A visitation for Bettye will be held Sunday, October 1, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home, 5725 Colleyville Blvd, Colleyville, TX 76034.

A Celebration of life will occur Monday, October 2, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church of Hurst, 1801 Norwood Dr., Hurst, TX 76054.
