Brenda Gail Estfan, of Bell Gardens, CA, passed away on Monday, November 16, 2020 in Dallas, TX, after a long battle with stage 4 metastatic cancer. No matter how sick she was, she was always determined to fight. When anyone else would have broken, Brenda (Gra Gra) stayed strong and smiled. Through her, we know what resilience, perseverance, and true toughness looks like. She will always be remembered as a loving mother, faithful wife, and loyal friend to all that knew and loved her.
Brenda was born on August 20, 1954 in South Gate, CA to Bud and Dorothy Sexton. She grew up in California surfing in Huntington Beach and working at the at the post office for over 20 years. She met the love of her life, Gary, who was her son, Adam’s baseball coach. They got married and had a baby girl, Candice. The Estfan family enjoyed going to Lake Mead every year. Brenda loved to water ski but most importantly she loved drinking her Bartles & Jaymes wine coolers on the beach. Being on the beach was her happy place. Brenda was a very dedicated mother to both her children’s extracurricular activities. She took her son, Adam to every single practice and game for baseball and football and took her daughter, Candice to every 4 a.m. ice-skating practice and every competition. She was always there for you when you needed her and gave the absolute best advice for any situation. Through her beautiful smile and infectious laugh, she brought the joy out in every situation.
Brenda is survived by daughter, Candice Swayden and husband Chris of Dallas, TX; son, Adam Estfan of Colleyville, TX; granddaughter, Victoria Swayden of Dallas, TX; and cousin, Darcy Clinton of Henderson, NV. She was preceded in death by beloved husband, Gary Joseph Estfan; father, Francis Buddie Sexton; and mother, Dorothy Faye Scallion.
A private Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 22, 2020. Those that cannot attend are welcome to join online by clicking the link below 5 mins before service time.
