Delores Odiorne (Alice Delores Duncan) was born in Atlanta, Georgia on October 25, 1942 to Robert H. Duncan and Josephine Duncan (Brannon). Tragically, her father passed away when she was a very young child.
Several years later, Josephine married Grover West, who became a wonderful father to Delores. Delores
was blessed with brothers from the new union, Jimmy L. West and Timothy West. She was not only their big sister, but, after Josephine’s untimely death in 1980, their mother figure and close friend.
She married the love of her life, Charles “Charlie” Robert Odiorne on January 16th, 1965 at Dow AFB in Maine. Their first born, Anthony “Tony” Charles Odiorne was born in October 1965, followed by Charles “Chuck” Robert Odiorne Jr. in August 1967 - both at the same hospital in Atlanta that Delores was born in.
Delores and Charlie’s lives were filled with family, laughter and love. Although they lived in wonderful places such as Maine, Georgia, Delaware, and Hawaii, they always called Texas “God’s Country” and would keep finding their way back here. Delores was primarily a stay at home mother; however we would often joke that her “resume” was miles long.
She had many skills and was never afraid to take on something new. She was a waitress, she ran a small daycare in her home, she started her own catering company making beautiful, elaborate wedding and birthday cakes, she and Charlie built a beautiful home in Maui where they prepared and planted acres of citrus trees, she was a fantastic baker and cook, and she owned a successful clothing consignment store.
However, the job she always took the most pride in was caring for her loved ones. What she looked forward to more than anything in the world was becoming a grandmother.
Finally, in 2000,Tony and his wife, Leslie, gave her the first grandchild, Roxanne “Roxy” Odiorne, and in 2005, her last grandchild, Ryan Odiorne. In 2004, Chuck and Krista blessed her with twin grandsons, Abram “Abe” Odiorne and Charles “Charlie” Odiorne III. The four of them were the greatest gifts of her life and have made her extremely proud.
Surviving Delores are son Tony and his wife Leslie; son Chuck and his wife Jennifer; grandchildren (Roxy, Abe, Charlie, and Ryan); brother Jim West and his wife Debbie; brother Tim West and his wife Krissty; nieces Lacey West Idziak (husband Paul; children Lila, Roman, & Piper) and Stephanie West; nephews Brett West (wife Christine; children Silas & Josie) and Wyatt West; and brothers-in-law Richard “Odie” Odiorne (wife Peggy) and Johnny Odiorne (wife Barbara). She will be dearly missed by all her family and friends.
Reuniting with Delores in heaven are her mother, father, and step-father, her precious Aunt Bobbie, and her beloved husband Charlie. It brings comfort to us on Earth to know they are back together, drinking mai tais and saving a glass for when we are joined eternally.
A Hawaiian themed visitation & funeral will be held beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 30th, 2025 at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home and Memorial Park, located at 5725 Colleyville Blvd, Colleyville, TX 76034.
A fellowship will be held immediately following the burial at the home of Lacey and Paul Idziak.
"In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to one of the following charities that was near and dear to Delores' heart: Shriners Hospital for Children, St. Jude's Hospital for Children or Tunnel to Towers."
