Donald D. Jones was born just a little past midnight at his dad's sister's home in Lubbock, Texas on March 8, 1933. He was an only child of his parents Addison Pearson Jones and Estelle Bertha Freeman Jones. Most of his childhood was spent in Justiceberg, Texas, a town named after his great grandfather, Justice. Don grew up in the country where his parents had a few cows and crops mostly for food. Don started to school in Post. Texas, but finished up at a high school in Ralls, Texas. He grew up helping his dad run a ranch and had a short career in rodeoing as a bull rider. He then took up the life of a truck driver, a career that lasted over 50 years, bearing the CB handle, Salty Dog. During that time, he managed to travel through all but 13 states. Don Married his wife, Winifred Rose Shuler, on October 8, 1970, at a Justice of the Peace office in Oakcliff, Texas. Turned out that it was the same date as his mom's birthday. He was preceded in death by his parents, Add and Estelle Jones of Justiceburg Texas and his son Bradley D. Tanner of Denton Texas. Don was survived by his Daughter Roxanne Woodman of Farmington, NM. At one time he took responsibility for raising a step-granddaughter, Alicia Freck, whose mother was killed in a car wreck. This incident changed his life, causing him to turn to Christ and to find a church home. Don is one of the kindest persons that you will ever have known and he will be truly missed.
