Gregory Brian Kalush was an extraordinary soul who graced this world for far too short a time. He entered his eternal home with Jesus Christ after a courageous battle with heart failure—a fight he faced with unwavering faith, strength, and grace. Even in his final days, Greg continued to bless those around him, offering a helping hand, encouragement, laughter and joy. His presence brought light into every room, and his spirit touched countless lives.
Greg was born on February 11, 1982, in Danbury, Connecticut. From a young age, he was full of energy and love, with a deep passion for sports. As he grew older, he became known for his mechanical talents—whether it was engines, cars, motorcycles, or just about anything with moving parts, Greg could fix it. He was intelligent beyond belief. He had a sharp, clever sense of humor, and everyone in his life was given silly nicknames—including his friends and especially his beloved dogs. Greg’s infectious laugh and unique sense of humor lit up every room. Wherever he went, joy followed.
Greg loved his family fiercely and was their lifelong protector. While he enjoyed playful teasing and the occasional prank to “toughen them up,” nobody else came near his siblings—Greg was always there to shield them.
One of Greg’s greatest gifts was his ability to connect with people from all walks of life. Strangers were often drawn to him, sharing their life stories within moments of meeting him. Greg always made space for these conversations with patience and genuine care. His love for Jesus and for his neighbors came naturally, reflecting the heart of his faith.
Above all, Greg was a deeply devoted father to his daughter, Marlee. He loved her with his whole heart and was her guide, coach, protector, and best friend. His dedication to his family was one of his core values. He was also a loyal and selfless son and big brother, always looking for ways to help his parents and siblings without being asked. Serving and supporting the people he loved is what brought him his greatest joy.
His legacy will forever live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know him. Greg’s kindness, service, and unconditional love embodied the scripture from Proverbs 17:17:
“A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a time of adversity.”
No matter the circumstances, Greg chose courage, faith, and love. While his passing was sudden, we find comfort in knowing he is now in the loving arms of his Savior, Jesus Christ.
The loss of Greg leaves an immeasurable void in the hearts of his family and friends. He is lovingly remembered by his parents, Greg and Marianne; his devoted partner, Rema Atiya; his cherished daughter, Marlee; his younger brother, Matthew, and his wife Michelle, their beloved children Caden, Kennedy and Hunter; his younger sister, Jennifer, and Clayton Compton, and his beloved nephews Charley and Parker, as well as countless more family and dear friends.
As we navigate life without him, we hold tightly to Greg’s spirit—his laughter, his compassion, and the light he shared so freely. May we honor his memory by loving deeply, living fully, and bringing light into the lives of others, just as Greg always did.
