Helon Marie Stephen Self

Service: 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home, 5725 Colleyville Blvd., Colleyville, 76034. Interment: Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Garden. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Bluebonnet Hills.

Helon was born on March 4, 1926, in Ranger to Edd and Nita Stephen, the middle child and only girl. She married C.R. in 1944 in Corpus Christi. They were happily married for 52 years until C.R.'s death in 1996.

A school secretary for many years, Helon worked alongside her husband, who was the superintendent of the Perrin ISD. She was a longtime member of Brown Trail Church of Christ.

A precious mother and beloved "MawMaw," Helon touched the lives of everyone she met with her warmth, selflessness, humor and kindness. Graceful and easygoing, silly and lighthearted, Helon loved to smile and treasured the time spent with family. She was well loved and all who knew her will miss her greatly.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband; an older brother, Jack Stephen; and a younger brother, Mickey Stephen.

Survivors: Son, Michael Self and his wife, Carol, of North Richland Hills; daughter, Linda Harris and her husband, George, of Arlington; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
