Jackson Elery Brown, son of John Allen Brown and Virginia Katherine (Stults) Couffer, was born January 2, 1931, In El Reno, Oklahoma. He departed this life for his heavenly home on January 2, 2021 at his home in Hurst, Texas, at the age of 90 years.
Jackson attended school in Calumet, Oklahoma graduating the eighth grade, then he left school to help on the family farm. At age 17, with his parents permission, he joined the Air Force. Jackson traveled the world while serving his country earning several medals and awards. He also served in the Vietnam War. Jackson retired from the Air Force after 23 years, having achieved the rank of Master Sergeant. After retiring from the Air Force, Jackson worked for Darr Equipment, a Caterpillar Dealership in Irving, Texas. He started as an Equipment Demonstrator and had achieved the position of Used Equipment Assistant Manager for all five branches before retiring 17 years later.
In 1961, while stationed in England, Jackson met the love of his life, Rita Garnham, the daughter of George and Annie (Fisher) Garnham. Later the couple married in Altus, Oklahoma. They raised two daughters together, Susan and Sara. They were a devoted couple for over 59 years.
Jackson enjoyed golf, woodworking, traveling, camping, playing cards and dominos, and he was especially fond of watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren play sports, and supporting them in all of their activities. He was an active member of the Pipeline Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he is proceeded in death by his stepmother, Lydia (Lee) Brown, by a son-in-Law, Scott Owen, by three brothers; Thomas, Ronald and John; and by one sister, Mary Katherine.
Left to cherish Jackson’s memory are his wife, Rita, of the home; one Son, Brian Brown of Oklahoma City; daughters, Jaci Owen of Deleon, Texas, Susan Litzenberger (David) of Waynoka, Oklahoma, and Sara Wood (Scott) of North Richland Hills, Texas. He is also survived by five grandchildren; Benjamin (Kasey), and Heath (Ashlee) Litzenberger, of Waynoka, Oklahoma, Danielle (Devon) Cushenbery of Alva, Oklahoma, Tyler (Shannon) Wood of North Richland Hills, Texas, and Tara (Andrew) Hamburg of Greenwood, Missouri and thirteen great grandchildren; also by Brothers Robert (Sharon) Brown of Glendale, Arizona, James (companion Sherry) Brown of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Joseph Brown of South Carolina, and William Brown of Portland, Oregon; and by one sister, Judy Brown of Portland Oregon. As well as and other relatives and friends.
A Funeral Service honoring Mr. Brown will be held at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home in Colleyville, Texas. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pipeline Baptist Church. Special thanks to Total Hospice & Palliative Care for their outstanding service in the last days of Mr. Brown’s life.
