Jacqueline Jean Lee “Jackie” Miner was born in Midlothian, Texas, to parents John and Laurine Lee. She grew up very poor, as many did in those days, but along with her older sister Juanda, was highly loved and cared for. Jackie graduated from Carter-Riverside High School in 1951. On July 27th of that year, she married Robert Phillips, and eventually gave birth to her four beloved children. After divorcing in 1966, Jackie married Bill Miner in 1967. Bill was her great love until his death in 2015. In the early years, the family spent many weekends and most of the summer at the lake, boating and water skiing and enjoying the great outdoors. Jackie went to work as a teletypist for the Federal Aviation Administration in 1959, and eventually became a full-fledged Air Traffic Controller. In the latter years of her career, she spent much of her time as an instructor for other Controllers, teaching classes and seminars, finally retiring in 1994. Jackie was a Christian since the early 1960’s, but in 1977 she had a strong encounter with God that shaped her walk for the rest of her life. She and Bill became very active in church and church ministries, to include several mission trips to Honduras and Mexico. Best enjoyed was a vacation trip to Israel. Another high point in her spiritual life was getting to see her oldest son Bruce and his family become missionaries to Costa Rica. Throughout the latter decades of her life, Jackie’s walk with God was exemplary, as she served and taught, and was a great prayer warrior. Shortly after Bill’s death, she moved to an assisted living apartment in Brookdale Eden Estates. There she was known for her smiling face, her walk with God, the single-handed revamping of the library, and her love of cornhole baseball, UNO games, and canasta. Jackie’s passing was very sudden, but long-awaited on her part, after a well-lived life of 90 years. She loved her children tremendously, sacrificed for them often, and supported them unconditionally. Her son Bruce pre-deceased her, as well as five of her precious grandchildren. She is survived by her son Steve and his wife Denise, daughter Cindy and her husband Frank, and daughter Susan and her husband Rick. There are 11 living grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren, all of whom had the opportunity to know her. She will be missed
