

James was born on March 13, 1931 in LaGrange, Fayette County, Texas to Marie and Anton Albert Guenther. He came into this world with an older brother, Thomas Gerald Guenther, followed with one more brother, LeRoy Patrick Guenther and a sister, Sarah Marie Guenther.
James graduated from Schulenburg High School and “The University of Texas” with honors. He earned a degree in Petroleum Engineering.
He married Shirley Thomas on June 7, 1953 in El Reno, Oklahoma. Together they had two daughters Pamela Anne Guenther and Kathleen Ann Guenther.
He enjoyed a “good” game of golf, often teasing about how the “Uncle must win”. He retired as CEO of AMOSEAS (ChevronTexaco and Cal-Tex). James and Shirley lived in Canada, Indonesia and multiple places in the United States.
He filled his days with Millie and Mason, his beloved dogs, his sister, friends and various nieces and nephews.
James is proceeded in death by his wife, Shirley and his two daughters, Pamela and Kathleen; two brothers, Thomas Guenther and LeRoy Patrick Guenther. Survived by a sister, Sarah Guenther of Bastrop, Texas.
Service: 3 pm Saturday in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Chapel. James will be laid to rest in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park. Friends are cordially invited to gather and share remembrances from 6-8 pm Friday in Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be donated to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
