

Lanelle Easter Lucas passed away on October 18, 2017. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, dedicated teacher and devoted friend. She was born outside of Albany, Texas on September 19, 1930. Lanelle graduated from Abilene High School in 1948 and soon entered McMurry College where she studied education and business. An innovative educator, Lanelle taught all levels of elementary school in several school systems throughout the state of Texas as well as two campuses on US Air force bases. She retired from teaching after thirty-eight years of service in 1992. Lanelle leant her talents for communication and organization to several other professional pursuits, by providing customer service for such businesses as Skaggs, Albertsons, and Bluebonnet Hills. Her smile, friendly manner, and superlative hostess skills always helped to make others feel at ease. Lanelle always loved “doing for others.” Her inviting personality endeared her to many friends in the community. She studied the teaching and doctrines of Methodism and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Hurst. Lanelle is survived by her children John Lucas and Margaret Lucas Harvey, their spouses Donna Lucas and Scott Harvey; grandchildren, Matthew Lucas, Megan Lucas Arrendondo, Lauren Lindigrin, and Kathryn Harvey; great grandchildren, Liam Lucas, Lincoln Arrendondo and Kennedy Arrendondo. She is preceded in death by her husband, Forrest R. Lucas, brother, John Easter and parents: Howard and Lola Easter. The visitation will be held from 4-6 o’clock on Sunday, October 22, 2017 at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org.
